I had to sketch this very quickly as the light was fading fast. Just as I was finishing, a lone walker came into view, bang in the middle of the lane; I had to put him in. The sun was setting in the west and I wanted to capture the reflected light in the melting snow on the lane. It froze again later and I had that satisfying sound of the ice crunching underfoot as I made my way back to the car park at Digley.
Shaw Lane heads towards the junction of Hoobram Green and Nether Lane. The copse of trees overlooks Marsden Clough above Bilberry reservoir.
Dimensions: 30 x 30 cm
Acrylic Ink, watercolour and oil pastel on paper, framed
