Pule Hill Quarry. An extensive exposure of Upper Carboniferous Midgley Grit (formerly known as the Pule Hill Grit) is revealed in a 20m high quarry face extending 100m along the western slopes of Pule Hill. The quarry produced large quantities of building stones and flag stones. Here you will find Snow, a Simon Armitage poem and one of seven Stanza Stones carved by stone artist Pip Hall. I am currently working on a series of drawings at all of their locations.
